Veteran educator Rob Collins has announced his resignation from the Ventura County Board of Education. Collins was elected to the board in 2018 for the second time. He had previously served as a board trustee from 2002 to 2004. He also served for twelve years as a trustee for the Simi Valley Unified School District Board of Education and has many years of experience as a classroom teacher and school administrator. Collins was honored as the Simi Valley Teacher of the Year in 1998.

Collins says he is stepping down from the Board due to health concerns. His resignation takes effect on Monday. “I want to thank Trustee Collins for his dedicated service to the students of Ventura County,” said Dr. César Morales, Ventura County Superintendent of Schools. “He brought valuable insights to our policy decisions that always put students first.”

The Ventura County Board of Education will appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of Collins’ term, which expires next year. Anyone who would like to be considered must live in trustee area four, which includes Moorpark, Simi Valley, Santa Susana Knolls, Box Canyon, Chatsworth Peak, Home Acres, Sinoloa Lake and Tierra Rejada Valley.
