Legislative Update for Educators Coming November 15

posted on

Each year, new legislation impacts the daily operations and systems in our public schools. As the majority of them go into effect in the middle of the school year, school site leaders are faced with many challenges in complying. The annual Legislative Update presented by the Ventura County Office of Education will help ensure your school doesn’t run afoul of the new laws.

     • What: VCOE Legislative Update

     • When: Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

     • Where: VCOE Conference and Educational Services Center - 5100 Adolfo Way • Camarillo, CA 93012

The primary focus of this legislative update will be on new laws affecting the areas supported by student services/child welfare and attendance staff for the 2016-2017 school year. Topics include: ESSA, attendance, school safety, student discipline, enrollment, transfer options and more.

Attendees will also be provided with guidance on which laws will require notification to parents/guardians and revisions of board policies and procedures, as well as suggested strategies and resources to assist with implementation and compliance.
