Greetings,
On behalf the Ventura County Office of Education and the Dorothy Boswell Program faculty and staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. We are pleased that you have taken the time to visit our website. My name is Amy Stencler and I serve as the Special Education Principal for VCOE Post-Secondary Programs at Dorothy Boswell and Moorpark ACCESS. I am extremely proud and thankful to be working with such an exceptional group of students, families, and staff members.
The Ventura County Office of Education currently operates seven post-secondary rooms at the Dorothy Boswell Program in the city of Ventura. The post-secondary site serves students, ages 18-22, with multiple abilities from surrounding school districts. The Dorothy Boswell Program provides specialized academic programming and support services for students in the areas of career and vocational training, independent living community access, recreation and leisure, mobility, social-emotional growth and development, and functional academics. Our students benefit from a standards-based curriculum, Ventura County Community College District EAC courses at Ventura College as appropriate, Gold Coast Transit travel training, Department of Rehabilitation vocational training, community job training sites, and on-site enrichment courses and clubs. As an adult learning community, we believe that collaboration between student, family, school, and community stake holders leads to positive student and adult outcomes.
We thank you for visiting our website and hopefully you have gained additional insight about our amazing school. My door is always open, and I welcome your comments, suggestions, and ideas. Additionally, school visits may be available by appointment during the school year. Please contact the Boswell office at (805) 289-3388 for more information.
