Ventura County Social and Emotional Learning (VC SEL) Task Force 

The VC SEL Task Force is led by VCOE Directors, Regina Reed and Chris Ridge.

The purpose of the VCOE SEL Task Force is to advocate for equity in social and emotional learning (SEL) and support school districts in implementing evidence-based practices, resources, and training in SEL, which includes Restorative Practices, Social Justice, and Trauma Informed Care. Research and evidence shows that SEL programs and practices improve school climate, student and family engagement, attendance, academic success, and citizenship. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is about helping students develop a range of skills they need for school and life. Social-Emotional skills include the ability to:

• feel and show empathy for others
• establish and maintain positive relationships
• make responsible decisions
• understand and manage emotions
