The Ventura County Teacher Induction Consortium is a two-year, individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring, support and professional learning that begins in the teacher's first year of teaching for newly credentialed teachers in California. The program is accredited by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and is administered by the Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE), Educator Support and Effectiveness (ESE) department, in coordination with a consortium of 18 school districts, local charter schools, private schools, and 5 university partners.
The Induction Consortium provides services to teachers who have a Preliminary Multiple Subject, Single Subject or Education Specialist Credential. Combining online and face-to-face professional development coursework and completion of formative assessment documents during fieldwork with an experienced mentor, each candidate is guided to successful demonstration of required program competencies. Candidates will be assigned a mentor within 30 days of beginning the Teacher Induction program.
