What the State’s New Stay Home Order
Means for Ventura County Schools
The State of California’s new regional Stay Home Order takes effect on Sunday, December 6 at 11:59 PM in Ventura County and in all counties in Southern California. Here’s what that means for Ventura County schools:
- Schools at all grade levels that already opened for in-person instruction while Ventura County was in the red or purple tier on the state’s coronavirus watch list can stay open.
- Elementary schools that opened after receiving waivers while Ventura County was in the red or purple tier on the state’s coronavirus watch list can stay open. Elementary schools that are planning to reopen after receiving waivers may continue to do so.
- Schools may continue in-person instruction for small cohorts (groups) of students with special needs, such as students with disabilities and English language learners.
- Schools that have not yet opened or previously received a waiver must wait until Ventura County has returned to the less restrictive red tier on the state’s coronavirus watch list for 14 days.
